Proton beam therapy (PBT) is a type of radiotherapy used to treat certain cancers. Using protons instead of photons maximises the energy deposition in the tumour and minimises damage to surrounding tissues. As such, understanding how protons move through different media and interact with their surroundings is crucial for treatment planning for PBT. In order to model the dynamics of proton beams, we employ a jump stochastic differential equation, which allows us to reconstruct the so-called Bragg peak and generalise this notion to higher dimensions.
