Dr.
Colin Baker
Colin is a Consultant Clinical Scientist, Head of Radiotherapy Physics at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and Visiting Professor at the University of Reading. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine and has over 25 years’ experience as a Radiotherapy Physicist in the NHS in addition to 9 years as Lecturer in Medical Physics at the University of Liverpool.
Colin’s Research interests include Monte Carlo simulation of photon, electron and proton transport applied to radiotherapy treatment and mathematical modelling of tumour control probability and normal tissue complication risk. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed research articles and has supervised 5 PhD students to successful completion to date. Colin aims to develop these research areas to improve dose calculation and optimisation in radiotherapy planning and develop novel, accurate and robust predictive models of treatment outcome to allow individualised radiation dose prescription.
