Julian
Hofstadler

Julian is a postdoctoral researcher at University of Bath working with Alex Cox. His field of research are Monte Carlo methods and how these can be used within the MaThRad project, with particular emphasis on developing a theoretical understanding for these techniques.

He did his PhD at University of Passau (Germany), and his PhD project focused on theory of (adaptive) Markov chain Monte Carlo methods. Prior to that he obtained a BSc and MSc degree in mathematics from Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria).

More generally, Julian is interested in understanding and proving convergence of numerical algorithms, especially those involving some sort of randomness. In particular, he is interested in deriving quantitative error bounds for such approaches.
