Dr
Aaron Pim

Aaron was awarded his PhD in December 2022, with his thesis focused on the “Asymptotic and variational analysis of defects in liquid crystals”. Simultaneously, he worked for a short time as a casual research associate at the University of Oxford, working on understanding the transitionary behaviour of the self-assembling structures of inverse nematic emulsions which occur as the anchoring strength varies.

Aaron joined the MaThRad team in January 2023 and is currently wotking with Tristan Pryer at the University of Bath on analysing and applying the methods of PDE constrained optimisation to the Boltzmann transport equation, in the context of treatment planning in proton radiation therapy.
